New Online Dangers

Generation Y has added a tech twist to teen fights: kids are now videotaping their brawls and posting the footage online. A lot of teens are looking for their 15 megabytes of fame. Some even stage fake fights to air online. But there can be serious repercussions. If your kid films a fight, he could be charged with aiding and abetting. (The charge could be assault if he participates physically.) Plus, some colleges now do background check on applicants by searching for them online. Remind your kid that what goes on the web stays on the web. Finally, studies show that watching violence can bread aggressive behavior in kids. So if your kid is gawking from the virtual sidelines, switch off the computer.
