I guess it would be of no surprise that majority of computer users have Windows XP as their operating system (unless of course they have MAC or some other computer, or I’m just plainly mistaken). There are, without a doubt, a number of disadvantages in using WinXP, although it’s functionality and versatility still makes it a formidable OS that is favoured by many Microsoft computer users (me being one of them). It actually has been only a couple of years, not even a decade if I’m counting correctly, since the dawn of WinXP in the computer market, and it’s release has received a lot of “oohs” and “aahs” from many, starting with its sleek GUI and tweaked performance (still arguable to some extent). But it’s actually sad and disappointing to say that WinXP will be no more come this June 30, 2008.
Here is the press release: No extension: Windows XP D-Day arrives Monday, June 30
Yes, the so-loved (by some) OS would take a vow and leave the computer stage-limelight to give way to the “new world order” as set by the recently released Windows Vista. At any rate, it’s time to say goodbye to WinXP, at least for those who don’t have it and probably won’t have it anymore in the future.
