While PC makers usually have no fears about unveiling products one at a time, but Toshiba appears to have decided to come out in force this time. Over the past couple of days, the PC maker brought out DDR3-enabled netbooks, ultrathin and entertainment laptops and even 3D-ready machines. All that was left, in fact, was the value segment of the notebook front, and the company was quite quick in addressing its needs with its Satellite L and C lines.
Toshiba didn’t just offer one or two devices, of course. In fact, it prepared six distinct machines, each with processing, memory, graphics, storage and connectivity options carefully balanced in order to reach affordable price points when they finally start shipping (June 20). The 14-inch C645 and 15.6-inch C655, with a starting price of $450, are based on Intel or AMD low-cost chips and boast 250GB or 320GB HDDs, DDR3 memory, integrated graphics, a DVD Super multi Drive, WiFi and Ethernet.
Whereas Satellite L line is more extensive, with four notebooks eager to land orders. They are the 13-inch Satellite L635, 14-inch L645, 15.6-inch L655 and 17.3-inch L675. All these newcomers feature Intel Core or AMD Turion II/Athlon II/Phenom II chips, as well as up to 4GB of DDR3, a DVD drive, up to 500GB storage, WiFi and webcams, among other things. Finally, they have starting price tags of of $620, $516, $570 and $600, respectively, and, like the C645 and C655, 720p LED-backlit displays.
