Dell always does its best to put head-turning hardware inside all of its laptops, but the unfortunate fact is that not many people actually understand the specification sheet of any kind of PC, let alone a laptop. As such, end-users often base their selection on the aesthetic value of a machine, though this aspect does play a part in the decision of any consumer. The PC maker thought it should make life easier for its customers by offering a larger variety of external designs. To this end, it started collaboration with the 10-years-old design website Threadless for the creation of the Threadless Collection of Design Studio mobile computers.
The Threadless Collection is composed of the aforementioned Design Studio laptops but offers a number of skins, 11 to be precise, at least for now. The Threadless community is composed of around 1 million members, which means that new patterns might be added over time. At present, the list includes Grandma’s Hot Air Balloon by student artist Brent Schoepf, Daisy by Bryan Ische and Stone Jungle by André da Silva Cruz. Hardware-wise, the Dell Threadless Collection doesn’t differ from the regular Design Studio machines. Basically, the PC maker sought a way of allowing its customers to truly personalize their purchase according to their own personality.
