New Satellite R800 Laptops by Toshiba

Toshiba has just announced the introduction of the Satellite R800 series of notebooks which pack Intel’s second generation Core processors inside a slim and light-weight design, and are targeted towards consumers and large enterprises alike. The series is comprised of three new models, the Satellite R830, the Satellite R840 and the Satellite R850.

All the laptops feature processors based on the Sandy Bridge architecture, up to 8GB of DDR3 memory, and nearly identical specifications, the main difference being their size and the diagonal of the display. Storage wise, the units can be configured with either hard disk drives or solid state disks, up to 640GB in capacity, while all the three models come equipped with a dual-layer DVD burner.

As far as connectivity is concerned, Toshiba’s new notebooks feature 802.11 b/g/n wireless, Bluetooth 3.0 and Gigabit Ethernet as well as an USB 3.0 and an eSATA port, VGA, HDMI or DisplayPort video outputs and a Tecra docking connector. Battery life is estimated at up to 8 and a half hours for the 13.3-inch Satellite R830 (up to 14 hours with the extended battery), while the larger 14-inch and 15.6-inch models can run “just” eight hours without requiring a recharge.
